9. Training

Coaches are responsible for designing and running the training sessions. This is good fun and not as hard as it sounds. There are lots of experienced coaches who can provide support. There is an entry level FA Playmaker course and the FA Introduction to coaching course. These provides all the skills you need, it isn’t essential but highly encouraged by the club.

For recommendation on books and podcasts to help you please visit the coaching development pages.

Development Centres:
• The U5s and U6s are grouped together and train at Highdown at 9am on a Saturday
• The U7s and U8s also train at Highdown on a Saturday morning. The start time is flexible, but do work with the other groups to ensure there is space and equipment.

• The girls (U5 - U8) train on Sunday mornings between 9.30-10.30 at Highdown

It is your responsibility to put the kit away and ensure Highdown is locked up when you finish.

Training at Highdown gets called off sometimes due to waterlogged pitched or them being too hard. The discussion takes place on the ‘Highdown Saturday Morning WhatsApp’ group and then each age group informs their parents via email and Facebook.
