4. Communicating with parents

You’ll need to find a way to communicate with parents. The best thing to do is to set up an email address and a Facebook group. You might also want to consider a WhatsApp group – this works well when the teams get smaller. If you do set up a Facebook group ensure it is private and you get the parents to answer a question like, “what is your child’s name?”.

Also consider using Pitchero Manager App or Teamer to notify parents and get confirmation of availability for training and games. Please see the following help with using Teamer.

You’ll need to send things out like:
• What to expect from the club, coaches and team – how we run the year, what they can expect (resting players, "fair playing" time, subs etc)
• What the club expects from parents and carers (please share the code of conducts and remind them of expected behaviour, respect and being positive)

Which is probably best done before the season starts so everyone knows what to expect before games are played.

• Cancellations – if the weather is rubbish
• Chasing for subscription payments
• Details of games (when they reach that age group)

Most year groups do match reports when they start at Goals, the kids and parent really engage with it. Please note that the FA prohibit non competitive game (u7 - u11 age groups) scores shared on public forums such as twitter. It is fine to share on private Facebook and WhatsApp etc. groups.
