Soggy Swans sail to victory

Caversham Swans faced a challenging fixture in the Berks Cup U15 division 2 vs Tilehurst Panthers at Clayfield Copse. Caversham got off to a flying start after Ruby’s through ball released Lucy who finished calmly with a low and hard shot. Tilehurst reacted and pushed forward, but couldn’t break down the stubborn Caversham defence with Niamh again dominating the centre defence. Another great through ball released Lally who sprinted through the centre and slotted the ball home to make in 2-0. Caversham continued to look strong, but to Tilehurst's credit they kept pressing until Lally broke again and scored our third goal. The half time team talk we reminded the girls that nothing was won yet and they faced a tough second period. Leonie came on and played some good through balls and Izzy stood out in the second half with a solid performance. More Panthers pressure lead to a floater corner, which missed everyone and was nodded in at the far post - Game on! Further pressure saw Serena make some good saves and Lianna do an up and under, which Serena then kneed the ball off for another corner. Better defending and some neat passing set Lucy free again and she scored the fourth. There was just time for Panthers to snatch a late second goal, but all in all Caversham deserved and got the win! Another great team effort by all the girls.
