Solid Performance

After a month of cup games it was back to the league fixtures. The girls knew that to keep their unbeaten record going they needed a win. Straight from the start the girls went on the attack. It wasn't long until a ball came across from the far side from Ruby finding Lucy racing in on the back post controlling the ball and slotting the ball pass the goalie for 1-0 to Caversham. The girls never let up and kept on attacking the Tilehurst goal. It wasn't long until Lally broke the defence again making it 2-0. Great work from Maud and Abby who were playing just in front of the back 4 stopping any Tilehurst attacks, which were far and few between. Lally was a constant threat up front breaking the defence again running between 2 defenders who couldn't keep up with her pace and brought her down on the edge of the box. A free kick taken by Ruby went through the wall for the goalie to save. Just before half time Lally broke away again to put a fierce shot which looked like 3-0 only for the Tilehurst goalkeeper at full stretch making a brilliant one-handed save pushing it around the post.

In the 2nd half the girls kept on the attack looking for a 3rd goal. The earlier save by Tilehurst seemed to motivate their girls as they created more chances going forward, the back 4 of Olivia, Anna, Niamh and Lianna stood solid limiting them to only a few shooting chances. The only time Serena (who had hardly anything to do) was beaten from an attack Niamh fantastically cleared the ball off the line. More chances fell to Caversham with both Lucy and Ruby putting dangerous crosses into the box, which somehow Tilehurst managed to keep out. Leonie and Leah both put in a solid performance down the left mid field. More chances fell our way, but we were unable to convert into a 3rd goal. This was a great team effort from the girls with the defendence, midfield and strikers never giving up and looking hungry for more goals.

Another solid performance by the girls maintaining our unbeaten league run. Roll on 2019.
