Berks County 2 - 2 Caversham AFC

A much changed Caversham took on newly formed Berks County FC in a friendly at Coworth Flexlands School near Cobham. Caversham started strongly and had chances to put the game to bed in the first half. Ruby dominated the central midfield and nearly put Caversham ahead when she cracked a shot against the bar. Daisy put a shot wide with her left foot from close range as the best chances fell to Caversham. Olivia led a defensive line up with player of the match Niamh and Lianna all ensuring Serena had a quiet first half. Izzy, Tia and Saffron all caused Berks County problems, but it was a fine solo effort from Daisy that ensured Caversham took a lead into half time as she made amends for her earlier miss by battling through the defence and picking her spot perfectly for the finish. The second half saw more experimentation with top goal scorer Evie moving to a left midfield position and Serena replacing Daisy up front for her first outfield game of the season. This gave Olivia her first opportunity in the gloves and she put in a composed performance with some excellent kicking. Berks County began to look threatening in the second half despite the usual spine of Martha and Grace coming off the bench for the second half. With Leah and Niamh both having plenty to contend with the pressure finally told when a muddle in defence presented a tap-in for a Berks County equaliser. Suddenly Berks County looked the more likely and when they scored a second soon afterwards Caversham decided to change things and revert to having Evie as a striker. The change worked when Evie netted a neat finish to ensure the game finished all square.
