Magnificent seven for Caversham

A fully committed performance and some ruthless finishing saw Caversham comfortably secure the points and move to joint second in the league. Once again the game took place at Highdown school and Caversham rarely looked troubled as they took advantage of the extra width of the Highdown pitch. Evie opened the scoring and when minutes later Daisy made it two with her 11th of the season, Caversham took complete control. Grace dominated everything in midfield and was only denied by the cross bar after picking up the ball on the edge of the box and firing in from distance. With player of the match Leah dealing with any Boyne Hill threats and Matha perfectly organising the back line along with Lianna it made for a quiet first half for Serena. As half time approached, Tia turned the Boyne Hill defense and then broke at pace. A composed finish bagged the three points with the goal of the game. It was Tia's 4th of the season and her first for 4 months, so her delight was obvious. The second half saw Martha move to midfield and Anna take control of the defensive line where she put in a great second half performance to ensure the Caversham defenses were not breached. Meanwhile the full attacking midfield power of Izzy, Ruby and Martha was unleashed at the other end and Evie's second came quickly after half time. When Martha unleashed a shot that deflected past the Boyne Hill keeper, they looked like that might cave in completely. However, Boyne Hill remained committed to ensure the score line was kept respectable. Martha's delight at scoring her first goal for the club was evident for all to see. With Caversham now dominating, Evie secured another hatrick to take her season total to 22. Towards the end of the game, Boyne Hill were awarded a free kick within range. Serena, who had had one her quietest games to that point, pulled off a brilliant double save to deny Boyne Hill a consolation and ensure the clean sheet was secured. There was just time at the end of the game for birthday girl Izzy to complete a magnificent seven for Caversham.
