Caversham secured their first win of the season against an under strength Shinfield Rangers at Millworth Lane. A Daisy hatrick (her first for the club) and a brace from Evie ensured a comfortable win for The Swans. With Martha leading the defensive line and Leah, Olivia and Niamh all putting in good defensive performances it meant Serena was rarely troubled in the Caversham goal. Helena, Anna, Saffron and Izzy all had good games in midfield with Tia causing particular trouble for the Shinfield defense with her skill and pace. Shinfield started the game well, but it was Evie who opened for scoring for Caversham early in the first half. When a corner struck a Shinfield hand a few minutes later it was Daisy that stood up to take the spot kick. Although the keeper made a good save, Daisy found the back of the net with the rebound for her first goal of the season. Evie then made it three just before half time with an excellent shot from distance for her third of the season. The second half saw Shinfield claw a goal back from a poorly defended corner that saw the ball scrambled over the line, but any hopes of a Shinfield comeback were short lived when Daisy capitalised on a poor goal kick to make it 4-1. With both Daisy and Evie pushing for hatricks, Caversham continued to press with Izzy, Anna and Tia all carving out excellent chances to make it five. Ruby's short return to action looked promising after missing the first game with injury. With the clock running down Evie finished a great move and was turning to celebrate her hatrick when she saw the flag was raised for off-side. However, there was still time for Daisy to breach the Shinfield defence one last time, pick her spot and complete an excellent day for her and the team.
