Caversham AFC secured the double over Tilehurst Panthers Stripes in a close and competitive game at Clayfield Copse. Caversham started the game well, pegging Tilehurst back and winning a number of corners in the first half. The defensive line was led by Helen who had another outstanding performance in central defence. Tilehurst always looked dangerous on the break and were unlucky not take the lead when they hit the post. They also had a penalty appeal waved away by the referee. However with Evie, Ruby, Tia and Daisy all causing problems for the Tilehurst defence the breakthrough came with a well worked goal and composed finish from Evie. The second half was a tense affair, but with player of the match Grace edging the midfield battle, Tilehurst made few real chances of note. Caversham meanwhile had a few breaks that could have seen the game secured, but were unable to find a crucial second goal. Fortunately they held on to the final whistle to secure another 3 points which takes them to 2nd in the BCGFL league table.
