Caversham got a first win of the season in dramatic style against Tilehurst Panthers Stripes at the Victoria Rec in Tilehurst. Caversham were slow to start and found themselves under early pressure, but with Helena, Helen and Niamh defending well it meant Serena had a quiet first half in goal. In a close competitive game, Caversham eventually found their shape and started to look dangerous on the break with Tia and Evie both creating good chances before half time. The second half started to see Caversham dominate midfield and with Serena putting in an excellent performance she was unlucky not to get her first goal when she hit the post. Evie and Serena continued to look dangerous on the break with Olivia, Tia and Grace winning the midfield battle and getting the ball forward. As the game drew to close and with both teams tiring it was Tilehurst's turn to threaten and only some composed goal keeping from Martha and superb defending from player of the match Helen kept the scores level. As the game drew to a close there was one final chance deep in injury time as Evie split the defence to run clear. A composed touch and looping shot gave the Tilehurst keeper no chance and the delight for the Caversham players was clear to see. With the referee blowing the final whistle during the goal celebrations Tilehurst did not have time to restart the game. It was harsh on Tilehurst, but certainly a much needed confidence boosting win for Caversham.
