The U7 SparrowHawks have done an incredible job in reaching the final of the BYDL cup at the first attempt in their first season and are one of the only teams in the U7’s cup and league who do not train during the week!
SparrowHawks started very well holding our own against an incredibly talented Woodley Zebras team who last week played and beat the Southampton Academy comfortably.
In a very physical game we played some of the best football we have seen all season keeping our shape and making tackles whilst trying to press our opponents back.
At half time we went in behind but had good energy levels and a good team spirit.
In the second half Zebras really pushed us hard but again we held our shape, had shots on target and won some free kicks in good areas that we narrowly missed scoring from.
In the end Zebras we’re too strong for the SparrowHawks and we lost the match but won the hearts of the crowd and made all the parents who watched the game very proud.
We are now planning for next season.
Many thanks Pete, Russ and Steve.
